What problem does Smart Taurus solve?
Smart Taurus addresses two connected inefficiencies in the transport market. First, empty miles: vans and trucks frequently drive part-empty, especially on return journeys, which wastes fuel, driver time and vehicle capacity. Second, expensive dedicated hire: a customer who books a vehicle exclusively for one job pays for the whole trip — including the empty miles — even when the load would fit in space another transporter already has available on that route.
A marketplace solves both at once. Transporters on Smart Taurus can quote to fill spare capacity on journeys they are already making — known as backloading — so the customer pays for space rather than for a whole vehicle, and the transporter earns from miles that would otherwise be empty. In Australia, where backloading is an established practice, Muval reports that backload moves can be up to 50% cheaper than dedicated truck hire. The same logic applies to competing quotes generally: multiple transporters pricing one job keeps prices honest in a way a single company’s rate card cannot.

- Receive quotes from verified transporters. Transport professionals send competing quotes, each linked to a verified profile with ratings and reviews from previous Smart Taurus customers.
- Compare, book, track and pay in the app. The customer chooses a quote, books, follows the job with real-time tracking and pays securely in-app via Stripe.
